Diet > Reasons We Become Over Weight
At a survival level fat is stored in the season of plenty and kept in store for
when food is more scarce. However this does not apply in most of the Western
world as we have no fear of hunger.
In times past, a woman who was fat was far more desirable as she would most likely
survive the cold winter and even live longer than her thinner neighbours to the
extent that in some
cultures it was common in the late
summer to eat and put on as much
weight (fat) as possible due to
inadequate food storage so that the
people had a better chance of
survival over the cold winter. In time
this has led to a genetic ability to
readily store energy. .
But today when we have warm homes and plenty of food, it is very simple, we exercise
less and overeat, as well as eating more refined foods.
So if you feel that you are overweight, just consider:
- There are some who have a genetic or biological disposition to store
fat.
- If this is you, make your peace but also exercise and follow sound
dietary advice.
- If you live in
a developed country, the chances are
that you get little exercise other
than walking about home and office.
- You may make it
to a gym a couple of times a week, or
escape to the country for a weekend
of hiking which if your diet is ok,
may keep you trim.
- Human Beings
are designed to be active, to use our
bodies in many ways.
- Ok, so if you don't exercise and get physical, diet may not be enough to
keep you slim, make peace with your fat!
- Our food has
become much more refined, so although
you may eat less, so foods are more
refined, more nutrients are absorbed
and what is not used in our daily
life, is often stored as fat.
- If you live on fast and unhealthy food, wake up. Life is not a dress
rehearsal!
